The ZomBees are a family-friendly a cappella trio that performs in the fall. We are part of The HoneyBees group that sings oldies and Christmas the rest of the year. You do not need to be a part of The HoneyBees full time in order to be a ZomBee.
There are several group members, but we only perform in trios, so we rotate through gigs based on availability.
Rehearsals are scheduled as needed. There is no set rehearsal day. There are some full-group rehearsals, but mostly smaller rehearsals at singer's homes in different areas around Vancouver and Portland.
We provide you with sheet music and practice tracks for every song. Singers must be committed to learning as much music as possible at home before rehearsing. The ZomBees perform 13 songs. Seven of them are more difficult and require more practice time. The other six are easier and meant to be learned faster
Singers hold a black notebook 'caroling' style for performances, so music does not need to be memorized
Gigs are paid at different rates, typically $40-$80 per performance hour. Rehearsal time is not paid.
Singers must provide their own costume and makeup.
How to Audition
Using the sheet music and practice tracks below, learn the part or parts you want to audition for. Once you learn the part, please make a video of yourself singing your part while the track with the other two parts is playing in the background. For example, if you are auditioning for alto, use the tracks to learn the alto part. Then video yourself singing the alto part along with the track that has soprano 1 and soprano 2 only. Let us know if you need help or have questions.
