One of my favorite lines from one of the Marvel Justice League movies (I can't remember all their names anymore), is right after the big battle scene where they save the world from alien invaders. Iron Man barely escapes through some time-dimension-warp-whatever hole in the sky, and as his friends rush to his side he says the classic line, "ya ever tried shawarma?"
As a matter of fact, I have. I am of partial Armenian descent, and while living in Orange County, CA my husband and I discovered an Armenian restaurant with the best chicken shawarma sandwich ever. In history. Ever. It was my first experience with shawarma.
But since then, I have started making shawarma on my own. It's a simple way to make delicious and healthy chicken for dinner that's different from the usual classic chicken recipes. And it's one of the few recipes I make from scratch that my husband actually enjoys.
If you're on any kind of a diet, it's great to pair with fresh grilled veggies, or a tomato and cucumber salad. If you're not on a diet, or are taking a day off, add some buttery Armenian rice pilaf.
If you would like to see my recipes for shawarma and rice pilaf, I will be sharing those soon, so please subscribe to my email list to get in on the action!
